MAMs houses many different providers who specialize in a variety of practices. Below are the practitioners who call MAMs their home:
Wendi Cleckner
Wendi is a desert child at heart, born and raised on the Arizona clay. In 1993 she helped a friend through the birth of her first child and felt a passion to devote her life to moms and babies. The calling of midwifery has blessed her with travel across the world, taking her to the Philippines, the Sudan and Iraq. She believes in the intrinsic knowledge women hold in the ability to bring forth life, and will continue to work both individually and with the community, rallying for women to give birth as they choose.
Wendi loves the sun and the earth, and enjoys coaxing new life out of the Arizona ground in her gardens. She continues her journey in herbalism and a number of other healing modalities. Wendi is always looking for the next adventure overseas to help women and families in under-served areas of the world.

Michelle Hottya
Michelle has a deep passion for service, community, and advocacy, expressed through the support of families and their babies. As a native of the high desert of Southern California, the transition in 2004 to life in the Valley of the Sun was a natural change for Michelle, leading to birthwork as a doula, childbirth educator, and birth assistant. This path led into the study of lactation and earning the professional title of IBCLC – International Board Certified Lactation Consultant – in 2013. Her work with so many families and a drive to continue learning has deepened her knowledge of infant feeding, pumping, tongue tie, infant sleep, perinatal mental health, and so much more.
Michelle also serves as the current President of the Central Arizona Lactation Consultant Association, which provides education, networking, and development for lactation and affiliated professionals. You might otherwise find Michelle at a professional conference or a rally at the Capitol, depending on the issue of the day.
Michelle married her high school sweetheart in 1997 and they have raised three amazing kids who are now in college, high school and middle school. When family, work and volunteering are not filling her time, Michelle enjoys crochet (especially boobie hats!), reading, writing, and defending the Oxford comma.
